New Program available

We are excited to announce a new program that we have the opportunity to bring SV Minor Basketball to give more children access to playing basketball this year! Thursdays from 5:30-6:30 kids in grades 4-8 who are not currently registered with a basketball team, are welcomed to come to our Open Gym House League. They will be working on training, skills and drills and a few scrimmages with each other.

This will be a coed program for the U11-U14 age brackets. The cost of this program is $40 which includes the BNB and Basketball Canada fees. If your child is interested in this program please register them at http://SouthernVictoria.rampregistrations.com. We will be starting this Thursday at 5:30 at AES!

Gym Rules

We wanted to send a reminder to all parents and visitors during our games and pracitce times. The school has gym rules that need to be followed at all times and if they are not, we run the risk of loosing our gym time. Please keep these rules in mind

  2. Climbing/crawling under bleachers is prohibited at all times.
  3. No playing outside of the gym playing surface- (bouncing, throwing, kicking any equipment or implements of any kind).  Sprinkler heads could be damaged,  leading to a possible sprinkler misfire.  Ceiling tiles and artwork could be damaged or destroyed.
  4. AES equipment room is off limits.  A room is provided for your groups to store equipment in.
  5. The AED emergency defibrillator and fire extinguishers are not to be played with.  If a situation arises and your group feels the need to use emergency equipment, please inform the school immediately so that the materials can be replaced.  AEDs pads and batteries are intended as single use only.

U9 will begin at 6:30 and run until 7:30. Kaysha Davenport with Ben Thibault and Macky Ilbit are taking on coaching this great group of kids and we couldn’t be more excited!

Can’t wait to see everyone back on the basketball court!

Our scheduled for practice times have been slightly changed in keeping consideration for working parents who may not get off of work until 5 or 5:30. Therefore practices will be as followed:

U7 – Mondays 5:45-6:30
U9 – Mondays 6:30-7:30
Thursdays 6:30 – 7:30

We are hoping to have practices start next Thursday, October 17th.

As Monday is a holiday, our U7 group will also practice on Thursday from 5:45-6:30 (this will be the case whenever the Monday practice is cancelled for holidays or weather in hopes to get as many practices in as possible .

If anything changes for start dates we will let you know.

U7 & U9 – Welcome Back

We are excited to be back to offer our U7 and U9 programs for the 2024/2025 season. There will be currently will not be any U11 teams with SV Minor Basketball as former coaches have begun their own U11 club.   There are some changes this year that we would like for you to be aware of.   We will once again be running the Jr. NBA program for our players.  We have gone with a smaller package which comes at a lower price to you as parents while still providing the kids with a proper size game ball and a Jr. NBA branded reversible jersey as well as a year end party from Subway.  It also provides mandatory training for our coaches and an age appropriate curriculum that is easy for them to follow and use to help teach your children the skills of basketball while they learn to love the sport.

Canada Basketball now requires all registered organizations, including Basketball New Brunswick (BNB) and therefore SV Minor Basketball (SVMBA), to use the RAMP registration for registrations and programming going forward.  This will ensure everyone is on the same page and insurance can be moved from season to season as necessary.  This means a few things for you as parents:

  • -a new platform to create a profile and players under
  • -you will select the program that best suits your child and fill in the necessary information.

The biggest difference this year is that you will end up making 3 payments for your players basketball: $9 to BNB, $12 to Canada Basketball for insurance and registration,  then the SVMBA Fee $69 for U7 and $84 for U9; the total fees would end up being $90 for U7 and $105 for U9.  We are unable to make any changes to this and the fees must be paid this way.  There will still be a 10% discount for multiple family members in the program. We will continue to offer (as in previous years) a 50% discount for one child to our coaches as a thank to them for the hard work and dedication they put in each season.

We will have the registration system open within the next day or two as we wait for just a few more things from BNB and Canada Basketball.

U9 and U7 teams

Good Evening Parents and friends,

A lot of you may or may not have questions about basketball for this coming season and the U9 and U7 teams.

With the creation of a new U11 club (that is not associated with SV Minor Basketball in anyway) the board has been weighing our options on what that looks like for the U9 and U7 teams as the cost may/may not be significantly higher with only having 2 teams and not 4 as we usually do.

Our first step is to determine how many are interested in having their child play ball this year at the U9/U7 age group. We ask you to please fill out the below survey to let us know
